Port Stephens Council approached Nodding Dog to create a series of short documentary videos to help communicate some key road safety messages to the young people in their community.

Their concept ‘Our Stories’ focused on local stories and called for an intimate, realistic and non-sensationalized approach to storytelling and production that would respectfully allow local young people to present their stories as they happened. The aim was to allow young people to then draw their own conclusions from stories that occurred in places they know and involved people they might recognize, rather than presenting them with another didactic public awareness message.

Shot quickly with a tiny crew and a low profile camera system, Nodding Dog was able to create an environment that put the subjects at ease, allowing them to speak openly about their experiences and ensuring that small, candid but powerful moments could emerge.
